Melinda Bane, a first grade teacher at George Elementary, is the latest Taking Roots Award winner. She was honored for embracing ROOTS (Reading Opens Opportunities to Succeed) and going above and beyond in risk taking, implementation, modeling, inspiring, supporting others and taking the lead to help all learn and grow in the science of reading. Great teachers help make Springdale Public Schools #THEChoice.
After over 15 years, and more than 200 school board meetings and 400 school board lunches, Mike Luttrell ended his service on the School Board during February's meeting. An election to replace him is March 3 and the next meeting is March 10. Luttrell decided not to seek reelection. He was given a standing ovation after a nice tribute from board president Kevin Ownbey. Dedicated school board members are another reason Springdale Public Schools are #THEChoice.
Central Junior High has earned a Shannon Wright Award for 2019-2020. Since the award began in 1999, only 21 of over 200 schools that qualify have been recognized as Shannon Wright Award winners. Only three, including Central, are junior highs. The rest are middle schools. It's an amazing recognition. High quality schools are among the reasons Springdale Public Schools are #THEChoice.
